Overview
Aether ("we", "our", "the app") is a gamified to-do and habit app with an AI Dungeon Master. It is built and run by Kovid Bhaduri. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who it is shared with, and your rights.
Data We Collect
- Account information: your email address, used to sign you in, and the character name and class you choose.
- Your content: the tasks (quests), habits (rites), campaigns, notes and plans you create, and the messages you send us through the in-app feedback form.
- Progress data: skill levels, XP, streaks and other game progress.
- Chats with the Dungeon Master: your chat history is stored on your device. We keep a short summary of what the Dungeon Master has learned about your goals, so it can give relevant suggestions.
- Usage information: which features you use and when (for example, that a task was completed or a screen was opened). This never includes the text you type.
- Device information: a notification token (if you allow notifications), your time zone, and, on Android, your device's advertising ID (see Advertising below).
- Purchases: if you subscribe, your subscription status and plan. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card or UPI details.
How We Use Your Data
- To run the app: sign you in, save and sync your tasks, habits and progress.
- To power the Dungeon Master: the text of your tasks, habits and chat messages is sent to an AI model to plan your day, suggest next steps and reply to you.
- To send you notifications you have allowed, such as morning reminders and streak warnings.
- To send you occasional emails about your account, your trial or subscription, and important updates to Aether. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email or by replying to it.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it.
- To measure how well our ads work (see Advertising below).
- To provide and manage subscriptions and free trials.
Advertising
The Android app includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK, which records app installs and app opens together with your device's advertising ID. From app version 8.1 it also records a few milestones: finishing setup, starting the free trial, completing your first quest or habit, and coming back on later days. We use this only to measure whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram bring people who find the app useful. We do not send Meta your tasks, habits, chats, purchases or email address. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
Data Storage
Your data is stored by Supabase, encrypted in transit and at rest, and is linked to your account. Some data, such as your chat history and app preferences, is stored only on your device.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase: sign-in and database hosting.
- Vercel: app and server hosting.
- Anthropic (Claude API): the AI behind the Dungeon Master. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models and keeps it only for a limited period under its own terms.
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging and Google Play Billing): delivering notifications and processing purchases.
- Apple (Apple Push Notification service and the App Store): delivering notifications and processing purchases in the iPhone app.
- RevenueCat: keeping track of subscription status.
- Meta: measuring ad installs, as described under Advertising.
- Email delivery provider: if we email you, a service that sends emails on our behalf receives your email address for that purpose only.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the services listed above, and only as needed to run the app, deliver notifications and emails, process purchases and measure our ads.
Data Retention
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and all of its data at any time from the app (Profile, then Delete account at the bottom), or ask us by email. See how to delete your account.
Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete your data.
- Export your data.
- Opt out of non-essential emails, and turn notifications off in your phone's settings.
Children's Privacy
Aether is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be shown on this page with a new date.
